With product designs finalized, contract manufacturing partnerships established, and validation strategies defined, the company needed physical infrastructure to support production. Manufacturing operations required comprehensive planning integrating storage requirements, workflow efficiency, specialized systems like cold chain management, and future growth capacity.
The Facilities Challenge
The facilities planning needed to address interconnected operational requirements. This assessment examined every aspect of manufacturing operations to ensure infrastructure would support efficient production. We designed storage systems optimizing space and operational efficiency through racking and shelving matched to component types, environmental controls for materials requiring specific conditions, inventory management systems enabling material tracking, accessibility design minimizing retrieval time, and safety stock accommodation.
We developed workflow design minimizing handling and transportation through production flow analysis identifying optimal layout, material movement patterns mapped and optimized, workstation positioning for efficient operations, buffer zones preventing bottlenecks, and visual management enabling production monitoring. The physical layout created efficient flow from receiving through shipping while balancing space efficiency with operational accessibility.
02 | Specialized Systems: Cold Chain, Kitting & Quality Control
We designed cold chain systems for temperature-sensitive materials including refrigeration equipment sizing and placement, temperature monitoring and alerting systems, access protocols maintaining temperature control, backup systems for reliability, and documentation systems for compliance. Cold chain infrastructure ensured product integrity while supporting operational requirements.
Kitting area design prevented assembly errors through physical layout supporting accurate picking, visual management reducing errors, ergonomic workstation design, quality check integration, and inventory replenishment systems. The design combined efficiency with error prevention.
