About Kiran
Kiran founded MKA Insights in 2017 and has spent the past nine years building a specialized consulting practice focused on solving complex commercial, operational, and strategic challenges for mid-market life sciences companies. As the firm’s Managing Partner and head of research and development, she has personally led and delivered 50+ engagements across bioprocessing, cell and gene therapy, medical devices, and clinical diagnostics—ranging from strategic planning and commercial viability assessments to hands-on program management and operational execution.
As founder and Managing Partner, Kiran has established the culture, philosophy, and approach that defines how MKA operates with every client engagement. The firm’s ethos is built on a simple but demanding principle: deep immersion over generic frameworks. MKA doesn’t apply out-of-the-box consulting strategies to complex technical problems. Instead, the team immerses themselves in each client’s world—learning the science, understanding the technology, studying the competitive landscape, and mapping the operational constraints—because that’s the only way to build strategies that are practical, actionable, and tailored to the specific challenge at hand. This approach requires an obsessive curiosity and a willingness to dig into technical details that most consulting firms ignore. It’s equal parts scientific enthusiasm and equal parts problem-solving rigor—and it’s non-negotiable at MKA.
Kiran instills a culture of personal accountability and ownership across every engagement. At MKA, the team doesn’t hand off work to junior analysts or deliver generic recommendations and disappear. Instead, they take ownership of outcomes—staying engaged through implementation, managing cross-functional teams, building detailed documentation, and ensuring that initiatives move from planning to execution. Whether it’s creating 400+ pages of technical documentation, leading a 2.5-year program management effort for a high-visibility NPD project, or mapping facilities and space planning for new manufacturing lines, the work is rigorous, detailed, and driven by a commitment to delivering results. This approach isn’t just about solving problems—it’s about building trust with clients who need partners that care as much about their success as they do. Kiran has personally led and delivered 50+ engagements that reflect this philosophy, spanning strategic planning, product development, brand strategy, market research, and operational execution across bioprocessing, cell and gene therapy, medical devices, and clinical diagnostics.
Kiran’s consulting expertise is grounded in nearly a decade of operating experience at Thermo Fisher Scientific and GE Healthcare, where she held leadership roles in strategy, M&A, and marketing. At Thermo Fisher, she was called upon to transform the HyClone cell culture brand—redefining its market positioning, go-to-market strategy, and commercial approach during a period of significant business unit transformation. Her M&A experience includes leading integrations, divestitures, and carve-outs—giving her insight into both buy-side and sell-side deal dynamics and the operational realities of post-merger integration.
Before entering the private sector, Kiran was a political strategist in Los Angeles, advising on high-stakes projects including the LAC+USC Hospital Capital Project and the LAC+USC Biotech Park. This experience taught her how to cut through bureaucracy, manage competing stakeholder interests, and deliver results in complex, regulated environments—skills that continue to define her approach to consulting.
Today, Kiran leads MKA’s global strategy practice and specializes in helping life sciences companies navigate their most difficult growth challenges—from market entry and product development to commercial scale-up and operational optimization. She is known for being a fixer—someone who combines objective analysis, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution to help clients solve problems that others can’t.
